Blacks in the American Civil War

This is a copy of W. E. B. DuBois’ “The General Strike” about the massive influence of blacks on the Union Army in the American Civil War

Published in 1935

I’ve put this here as it’s not on the internet. Although he calls it a General Strike it wasn’t exactly that. But it’s information that’s not widely known. The introduction is by Eric Foner, a marxist academic specialising in the Civil War and Reconstruction.
